An airport transfer is transport between the airport and your accommodation, by car, van, shuttle or boat. It can be included in a package, or booked and paid for separately. On islands it may involve a car, a boat and a buggy in a single journey.
A useful companion read is airport transfer options and real costs.
Why does airport transfer matter for us?
The transfer is the first and last thing of your trip, and it sets the tone after a long journey. A poor arrangement means waiting at the arrival hall, a shared van with a long detour, or a late-night hunt for a taxi. Knowing the type of transfer and who meets you reduces that stress.
How does airport transfer show up in a quote?
A quote may say “Airport transfer included, return, shared”. The word “shared” means you travel with other guests and may stop at more than one hotel. “Return” means both ways. Check the pickup point, the waiting time allowed and whether late flights are tracked.
What should we ask about airport transfer?
Put these questions to the resort or agent, and ask for the answers in writing:
- Is the transfer private or shared, and one way or return?
- Where do we meet the driver, and how long will they wait?
- What happens if our flight is delayed or lands at night?
- Is luggage limited, and is the transfer suitable for our bags?
