A honeymoon package suits couples who want one total for two, one person to ask, and fewer decisions. The value depends on what is written in it, so compare packages item by item, not by headline.
This page explains how to read one, what to confirm in writing, and when booking separately makes more sense. For a deeper look, read what a honeymoon package includes.
Who is a package best suited for?
Packages are best suited for couples with limited leave who want a clear total and an arranged first day. They also help if you are tired after the wedding and want less to organise.
Better options exist if you enjoy building each part yourself or travel in a place with simple, flexible bookings. Our package versus do-it-yourself cost guide shows how to compare.
What does a package bundle?
Packages differ, so read the inclusions line by line.
| Item | Ask this |
|---|---|
| Room | Which type, view and bed, and is it a guaranteed type or “subject to availability”? |
| Nights | What number, and is there a minimum? |
| Meals | Breakfast only, half board or full board? |
| Transfers | Private or shared, and both ways? |
| Romantic extras | Dinner, decoration, spa: named, dated and included in the price? |
| Flights | In the price or not? |
| Taxes and fees | Service charge, tourism tax and resort fees included? |
Our honeymoon package extras checklist goes further on this list.
Where can a package take us?
Packages exist for beach, island and city trips. Good starting points are Langkawi for a short flight and quiet resorts, and Bali for villas and variety.
Check the blackout dates before you choose your month. Our guide on honeymoon package blackout dates explains why a package may not apply in peak weeks.
How do we compare quotes fairly?
Put each quote on the same basis: same dates, same room, same meals, same transfers. Then add anything missing so each shows a total for two.
If one quote is much lower than the others, ask which line is missing. Our guides on comparing quotes on the same basis and spotting an overpriced package show the checks. You can also use the package comparer.
What does the budget for two consist of?
The total is made of flights, room nights, meals, transfers, taxes, activities, photos if you want them, travel insurance and spending money. Add a buffer for the unexpected.
A package may fold some of these into one figure. Ask for a breakdown so you can see which parts you are paying for and which you could drop.
What should we confirm in writing?
Before you pay a deposit, ask for these in writing:
- Room type, bed type and view, by name.
- Dates, nights and meal plan.
- Every romantic extra, with date and time.
- Transfer type, route and pickup details.
- Taxes and fees included.
- Cancellation and change terms, and the deposit refund rule.
- The hotel or operator confirmation number.
A request is not a confirmation. Our guide on request versus confirmed explains the difference.
How do we check the agent?
Ask for the agency’s licence and search it on the official MOTAC site 1. Read our guide to checking a MOTAC licence for what to look for.
Also ask who holds the booking with the hotel, how you will pay, and what the refund route is if the plan changes.
What does pacing look like on a short and a longer package?
On a short package, plan an easy arrival day, one planned experience and one open day. Do not stack tours on top of a resort stay.
On a longer one, build in a rest day between activities. The glossary entry on land arrangements explains what a “land only” package leaves out.
How do we help plan it?
We listen to what you both want, compare options, and explain the total for two and the trade-offs. We confirm the details in writing with the hotel or operator, and arrange the trip. Send us your quotes and we will line them up for you.
What should we do next?
- Collect your quotes and your dates.
- Note the room, meals, transfers and extras on each.
- Mark what is missing, and ask for it in writing.
- Send them to us and we will compare them as a total for two.
