All-inclusive

A single all-inclusive price sounds restful, but what sits inside it varies from resort to resort.

All-inclusive is a rate that bundles meals, drinks and some activities into one price. What counts as included depends on the resort, so the word alone tells you very little. The details in writing are what you are really buying.

A useful companion read is all-inclusive vs half-board comparison.

Why does all-inclusive matter for us?

All-inclusive can make budgeting calm, because most daily spending is already paid. It only gives value if you will actually eat and drink enough to use it. For couples who prefer quiet evenings and fewer drinks, a lower plan with a few chosen extras can cost less. Muslim couples should also check how halal food is handled across all outlets.

How does all-inclusive show up in a quote?

A page may say “All-inclusive, includes meals, selected drinks and non-motorised water sports”. The words “selected” and “non-motorised” are the parts to read closely. They show where the inclusion stops, and what you will pay for separately, such as premium drinks, spa, boat trips or a private dinner.

What should we ask about all-inclusive?

Put these questions to the resort or agent, and ask for the answers in writing:

  • Which restaurants and bars are included, and which are not?
  • Are premium drinks, bottled water and room service included?
  • Which activities are free and which are paid, and are tours included?
  • Is there a time limit on the plan, and how is halal food handled across outlets?

Questions couples ask

Is all-inclusive worth it for a couple?

It is worth it when you will use the meals, drinks and activities it covers. If you plan to eat out or spend most days on tours, a lower plan can work out cheaper. Ask for the all-inclusive and half-board totals for two, and compare.

What is usually excluded from all-inclusive?

Spa treatments, private dinners, premium drinks, motorised water sports and off-resort tours are the items to check first. Ask for the exclusion list in writing. It protects you from a larger bill at check-out than you planned.

Can we get all-inclusive and still keep halal food?

Possibly, but it needs checking. Ask whether the kitchens are halal-certified or simply pork-free, and whether alcohol is served in the same outlets. The answer in writing tells you whether the plan suits you before you pay.
