Full board means the room rate includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on every day of your stay. Drinks, snacks and special dinners are normally charged separately unless the offer says otherwise. It is the simplest meal plan to budget for, as long as you know what sits inside it.
A useful companion read is all-inclusive vs half-board comparison.
Why does full board matter for us?
On a quiet island, the resort kitchen may be your only real choice, so full board keeps the daily budget predictable. The trade-off is paying for meals you skip on a day trip or when you want to try a local place. Compare it with half board and with paying meal by meal, and always on a total-for-two basis.
How does full board show up in a quote?
A resort page may say “Garden villa, full board, per night, two adults”. The small print decides the value. Check whether lunch is a buffet or a set menu, whether meals have fixed hours, and whether tea, coffee and water come with them. Two quotes that both say full board can still be very different offers.
What should we ask about full board?
Put these questions to the resort or agent, and ask for the answers in writing:
- Which meals are buffet and which are set menus?
- Are water, tea, coffee and soft drinks included with meals?
- Can a meal be swapped for a packed lunch on a tour day?
- Is the halal status of each kitchen confirmed in writing?
