Ask the resort to confirm in writing four things for your villa number: the interior size, the pool length and depth, the deck layout, and where the bed and bathroom sit. A single size figure does not tell you how the villa will feel.
This guide sits in our privacy rooms topic. Fill in the card below, villa by villa, and keep the replies.
Why does the area figure mislead?
A villa may quote a total plot size that includes garden, deck and pool. Another may quote only the indoor room. The two numbers cannot be compared directly.
Ask for the indoor area and the deck area separately. A smaller villa with a well-arranged deck can feel better than a larger one with a thin strip beside the pool.
What belongs on the confirmation card?
Use this card for each villa on your shortlist. The last column is for the resort’s written answer.
| Item | What to ask | Resort’s answer |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor size | Indoor area only, not the whole plot | |
| Deck size | Area and what fits on it | |
| Pool length and width | Dimensions in the resort’s words | |
| Pool depth | Even or sloped, and the deepest point | |
| Bed | Size and position relative to the pool | |
| Bathroom | Indoor or open air, and who can see it |
How do we judge pool depth and shape?
Depth decides whether the pool is for swimming or for sitting. A shallow plunge-style pool suits cooling off, while a deeper one is better for swimming. Our pool villa glossary entry explains how the term is used.
If you want to swim together, ask whether you can swim a few strokes in one direction. A short answer is better than a vague one.
What about the deck layout?
The deck is where you will spend the day. Ask which sunbeds and seating fit, whether there is shade, and where the dining or daybed sits.
Ask also which way the deck faces and what stands at its edges. The layout tells you whether the best seat has a view or a view of the neighbours.
How do the bed and bathroom fit in?
The bed position affects the view and the light. Ask whether it faces the pool, the garden or a wall.
Bathrooms can be fully indoor or partly open. If an outdoor shower is part of the villa, ask what screens it from the deck and the path.
How do we compare with a standard room?
If the price gap is large, compare what you gain beyond the pool. Our guide on honeymoon suite versus standard room: what differs covers size, view and service.
What should we do next?
- Print the confirmation card for each villa.
- Send it to the reservations team with the villa number.
- Work through the pool villa privacy checklist alongside it.
- Share the replies with us, and we will compare the villas for two.
