Bali in the wet season can still be a lovely honeymoon if your stay is built for rain. A villa with a covered pavilion, a spa nearby and a flexible plan turns showers into slow afternoons. If you want long days at the beach and clear sunsets, a drier month suits better.
For the destination overview, see Bali honeymoon. This guide sits in the season timing topic.
What does the wet season really feel like?
The wet season brings more clouds and more showers, mostly in the afternoon or evening. Humidity rises and the sea can be rougher. Mornings can still be bright.
It rarely means a whole week of grey. Treat each day as two halves: outdoors first, indoors later.
What do we gain by going in the wet season?
You may find lower rates at some villas and quieter paths at popular sites. Rice terraces look greener, and some spots feel less crowded. The savings are not guaranteed, so ask for the total for two.
Christmas and New Year are priced as peak at most resorts. Our Christmas and New Year surcharge guide explains how that works.
What do we give up?
You lose the certainty of clear beach days and dependable sunsets. Boat trips can be cancelled, and the sea may be rough for swimming. A beach dinner may move indoors, so read what happens to a beach dinner in the rain.
Some couples find this fine. Others feel disappointed. Decide which you are before you pay.
Which stays handle rain best?
| Feature | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Covered pavilion or terrace | You can sit outside while it pours |
| Private pool with a roof edge | Swimming still works between showers |
| In-villa breakfast and dinner | No walking in the rain |
| Spa on site | A ready indoor plan |
| Driver included | Easier moves between sites |
What can we do on a rainy day?
- A couples spa session.
- A cooking class.
- Temples and art spaces with a driver, early in the day.
- A long, slow lunch.
- A movie evening by the pool, once the rain stops.

Is the saving worth the risk?
It depends on the gap. If the cheaper total buys a better villa or an extra night, it can be worth it. If the saving is small, a drier month may give you a calmer trip for similar money.
Compare the full total for two, including transfers and a driver. Our Bali total cost for two guide shows the parts to include.
What should we do next?
- Note your dates and how flexible they are.
- Choose a stay type: pool villa, hotel or a mix.
- List two rainy-day plans you would enjoy.
- Send these to us, and we will compare your wet-season dates with a drier month, as a total for two.
