If it rains, a resort will usually do one of three things: move your dinner indoors, offer a new date, or give a credit or refund. Which of the three you get depends on the wording of your package, so find it before you travel.
This guide sits in our package evaluation topic. It helps you read the wording and set up a plan for a wet evening.
What are the three usual outcomes?
The first is an indoor table with the same menu. You keep the dinner, but lose the sand and the sea view.
The second is a reschedule to another night of your stay. The third is a credit, or in some cases a refund. Each suits a different couple, so you should know which one you are being offered.
How do we read the policy wording?
The table below decodes phrases you may see.
| Wording | What it likely means | Ask this |
|---|---|---|
| “Subject to weather” | The resort can change the plan | Change to what? |
| “Alternative venue provided” | Indoor table, same menu | Is the menu identical? |
| “Subject to availability” | A reschedule only if a slot is free | Which nights are blocked? |
| “Non-refundable” | No refund if you cannot reschedule | Is there a credit instead? |
| “At management discretion” | No fixed rule | Can we have it in writing? |
What if the weather is unclear in the morning?
Resorts may wait until afternoon to decide. Ask for the cut-off hour and who will call or message you. If you want to plan the day, ask for a decision before lunch.
Check the wider weather picture for your dates too. The guide on rainy season for city or beach honeymoons helps you judge how likely a wet night is.
Where in the stay should we put the dinner?
Do not place the dinner on your last night. A rainy evening then leaves you no second chance, and a refund helps you less than a meal does.
Put it on night two or three. You get a spare evening, and you will be rested after travel. If you can, also keep a backup night marked on your plan.
How do we compare moving indoors with a reschedule?
Moving indoors keeps the plan but changes the mood. A reschedule keeps the setting but needs a free night and a calm mind. Choose by what matters to you: the sea, or the evening itself.

What message can we send the resort?
Send this a few days before, not on the day. It takes one minute.
- Who decides if rain cancels the dinner, and by what time?
- If cancelled, can we pick: indoor table, new date or credit?
- Is the menu and price the same indoors?
- Which nights could we move to?
- Please confirm this in writing.

What should we do next?
Add the rain question to your package check. Save the resort’s reply with your booking. Then pick a dinner night with a spare evening behind it.
