HoneymoonQuest earns from trips we arrange for you. It is a business, and you should know that before you act on any advice here. This page explains how we are paid and the rules we follow so that fit comes before income.
It sits in our trust and enquiries topic, where we explain how to check what you are buying.
How do we earn?
We plan and arrange honeymoons with licensed partners. When you book a trip through us, we are paid for that work.
Depending on the arrangement, income can come from a planning fee, a commission paid by the supplier, or both. We can tell you which applies to your quote.
Who pays whom when you book?
The table is a plain picture of the money.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| You pay the quoted total for two | Paid to the company named on your receipt |
| The supplier is paid for hotel, transfers and so on | From the money you paid |
| We keep our part | A fee, a commission, or both, as agreed |
| Information pages such as this one | Free to read |
You can ask for the total for two with everything included, so there is no gap between the figure on the page and what you pay. Our guide on whether a travel agent costs more or less shows how to compare.
What rules keep recommendations fair?
These are the rules we write to:
- Options are ordered by fit with your dates, budget and needs.
- A supplier’s payment is not a reason to move an option up.
- Anything we have not verified is described as research or as supplied by the resort.
- A paid placement, if one ever existed, would be labelled on the page.
Our approach to labelling facts is in reading a resort comparison.
Is this unusual for a travel business?
No. Hotels, booking platforms and agents are commonly paid through a commission or a fee. What matters is whether you are told, and whether you can check.
You can test us. Ask for the same room booked direct and compare the totals for two.
What can you ask us to test it?
- Which parts of this quote are the supplier’s price, and which are your fee?
- Why did you put this option first?
- What have you verified, and what is supplied by the resort?
- What would you advise if we chose the least expensive option?
A clear answer to each is the point of this page.
What if you think a page is wrong or biased?
Tell us. We have a short route for corrections, described in reporting an error. A correction that you can see on the page is worth more than a promise.
What should we do next?
- Ask for a full quote showing the total for two.
- Ask which parts are the supplier’s price and which are ours.
- Compare with the same room booked direct.
- Send us any page that reads like an advertisement.
