The west coast is the easy choice for sunsets and a short airport drive. The south suits couples who want a resort stretch with its own feel. The north suits couples who want privacy and do not mind driving for dinner.
Our Phu Quoc honeymoon page covers the island as a whole. This guide helps you choose the side.
How do the three sides compare?
| What you care about | West | South | North |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunsets from the beach | Strongest | Possible | Possible |
| Airport drive | Shortest | Longer | Longer |
| Evenings | Most restaurants within reach | Resort-based, some outings | Quietest, plan dinners |
| Privacy | Moderate | Good | Highest |
| Feeling | Lively, convenient | Resort-like | Remote, natural |
What is the west coast like?
The west holds the main beach strip, with resorts, cafes and a night market within easy reach. The sunsets face the water, and you can wander after dinner without a car.
It is the most convenient base, and the busiest. If you have little leave and want few decisions, it is the safest pick.
What is the south like?
The south has a string of beaches and larger resort complexes. Your evening entertainment is inside the resort, with an outing when you want one.
It suits couples who want a self-contained resort and are happy to stay put. Check the transfer time from the airport before you commit.
What is the north like?
The north is the quietest side, with fewer buildings, forest behind the shore and more space between resorts. Private pool villas are easier to find here.
The trade-off is distance. Dinner outside the resort usually means a car, so plan meals ahead. Read Phu Quoc or Da Nang for a honeymoon if you are still choosing the island.
Four questions to pick your side
- Do you want to walk to dinner? Choose west.
- Do you want a self-contained resort day? Choose south.
- Do you want privacy above all? Choose north.
- Are you very tired, and landing late? Choose west.
If you answer yes to two sides, ask us for a resort that sits between them.
How do season and route affect the choice?
Weather and sea conditions change by season, which can make one coast calmer than another. Read our guide on Phu Quoc in rainy season before you fix dates. For flights, see getting to Phu Quoc from Malaysia.
What about halal food and prayer?
Halal options on the island are limited and need planning. Ask each resort in writing what is halal-certified and what is simply pork-free, and where a prayer space is. The west has more restaurants to choose from.
What should we do next?
- Answer the four questions together.
- Note your arrival time and leave days.
- Decide how much privacy matters compared with convenience.
- Send us the answers. We will compare a resort on the side you pick, with transfers and the total for two, and confirm requests in writing.
