Choose the vehicle by your bag list, not by the number of people. Two travellers with big suitcases and a few wedding gifts can outgrow a standard car. A short inventory sent to the operator keeps you from finding that out at the kerb.
This guide belongs to our package evaluation topic. Luggage is one of the factors in our airport transfer options and real costs guide.
What do we actually carry?
Write the list before you ask for a quote. Fill in each line.
- Large suitcases: the count.
- Carry-on bags and backpacks: the count.
- Gifts, boxes or fragile items: the count.
- Anything oversized: a baby stroller, a sports bag, a wheelchair or walker.
Send this list with your quote request. It saves a few messages.
Which vehicle type fits which load?
Treat this as a guide to ask about, because vehicle space varies by model.
| What you carry | Vehicle type to ask about | Check with the operator |
|---|---|---|
| Two carry-ons, one small suitcase | Standard sedan | Boot space with two passengers |
| Two large suitcases and carry-ons | Larger car or MPV | Whether bags fit without blocking the rear |
| Large suitcases plus gifts or boxes | MPV or small van | Number of bags it carries with two aboard |
| Oversized items or a mobility aid | Van with a wide door | Loading help and ramp or step details |
Why not just book a second car?
A second car doubles the cost and splits you from your bags. It also adds a second driver to coordinate. For most couples, one larger vehicle is simpler than two small ones.
Compare the total for two across both choices before you decide.
Whichever you choose, write the vehicle type into your confirmation. If the driver arrives with a smaller car, you can point to the written booking and ask for the right one. Our transfer quote comparison sheet lines up the details.
What about gifts and fragile items?
Wedding gifts are usually boxed or awkward. You can ask yourselves two things: do we need them on the trip, and can they travel in cabin luggage. If neither, leave them at home.
If you must carry them, ask for a vehicle with a flat boot and tell the driver which boxes are fragile.
What if we have a mobility or comfort need?
Mention it at booking. Ask about step height, door width, whether a folding aid is loaded in the boot, and whether the driver helps. A little detail in the first message avoids a rushed change at the airport. Ask the driver to wait while you load, so nobody has to rush with a heavy bag.
How do we keep luggage manageable on multiple stops?
If you move between hotels, bags multiply. Read luggage tips for multi-stop honeymoons for ways to keep the load light across the trip.
What should we do next?
- Count your suitcases, carry-ons, gifts and any oversized items.
- Decide what can stay home or be sent ahead.
- Send the final list to the operator and ask which vehicle fits.
- Get the vehicle type confirmed in writing.
- Send us the list if you want help choosing.
