A land arrangement is a package of everything on the ground at your destination, such as hotels, local transfers, tours and meals, without the flights. You book your own flights, and the arrangement covers the rest. In the trade it may be written as “land only” or “ground package”.
A useful companion read is package vs DIY honeymoon.
Why does land arrangement matter for us?
Land arrangements suit couples who want to choose their own flight times or use airline points, but still want the stay and transfers handled. The main risk is a gap between flights and transfers. If your flight is late, the pickup may be missed unless the arrangement allows for it, so the match between the two needs checking.
How does land arrangement show up in a quote?
A quote might say “Land arrangement: 4 nights hotel, daily breakfast, airport transfers, island tour. Flights not included”. Read the transfer line closely. Ask whether pickup follows your flight time, and what happens if the flight is delayed or you arrive on a different day.
What should we ask about land arrangement?
Put these questions to the resort or agent, and ask for the answers in writing:
- What is included, and what is excluded, in writing?
- Does the airport pickup follow our flight time if it changes?
- Who do we contact on the ground if something goes wrong?
- Are tours private or shared, and are entrance fees included?
