You can ask for early check-in, and you should ask early. Treat a yes as a gift, a maybe as a plan to prepare for, and a paid option as a price to compare. Only a written confirmation is a promise.
This guide sits in our season and timing topic, because timing decides what the resort can offer.
What are the three kinds of answer?
The resort’s reply falls into one of three groups. Knowing which one you have saves disappointment at the desk.
| Type | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Courtesy | “We will try”, subject to availability | Plan for a wait, treat a ready room as a bonus |
| Paid option | Room held from the night before, or an early fee | Compare the price with a day room |
| Confirmed | Written reply with a time and room type | Keep the message and show it at arrival |
A phrase such as “noted” or “subject to availability” is a courtesy. Our email template to confirm honeymoon perks in writing helps you turn it into a firm answer.
When should we ask?
Ask at booking, then again a week before travel. Early messages are noted in the reservation, and the second one reminds the front office.
If your flight changes, tell the resort the new landing time at once. A request attached to the wrong time cannot be used.
What should the message say?
Keep the message short and specific. Here is a sample you can adapt.
Hello, we are booked for [dates], reservation [number]. Our flight lands at [time]. We are on our honeymoon and would be grateful for early check-in if a room is available. Could you tell us the earliest time, whether there is a fee, and whether you can confirm this in writing? Thank you.
Add your landing time, not your hopes. A resort can plan around a time, but not around “as early as possible”.
What if the answer is no or maybe?
A no is still useful, because you can plan. Two practical fallbacks:
- Leave bags with the bell desk and use the pool or lobby café while you wait.
- Ask whether a day room or the previous night makes sense for the price.
Our short guide on matching flight times to resort check-in shows how to pick a flight that avoids the gap altogether.
How does early check-in relate to late checkout?
They are cousins. Both depend on how full the resort is on those dates. On a quiet weekday, either may be easy. On a busy weekend, neither may be.
If you value one more than the other, say so. See honeymoon late checkout to decide which one matters more to you.
What should we do next?
- Note your landing time and the resort’s standard check-in time.
- Send the request message at booking, and again before you fly.
- Record the reply and sort it as courtesy, paid or confirmed.
- Send us the reply if you want help to read it, and we will give you a total for two.
