A honeymoon package is a room plus a bundle of extras, and the extras differ widely in value. Some save you real money or effort. Others are small items that raise the price. This guide decodes the common lines so you can keep what helps and question the rest.
It belongs to our package evaluation topic. For our wider view of bundles, see honeymoon packages from Malaysia.
How do we read a package list?
Read each line and ask three things: what exactly is it, when does it happen, and can we say no to it. A line that names a time, a place and a quantity is concrete. A line that says “romantic touches” is not.
Then price the room alone. The difference between the package and the room is what you are paying for the extras.
What do the common extras mean?
Use this table as a first pass. The rating is our reading of value for most couples, and your own priorities may differ.
| Extra | What to check | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Room upgrade | Subject to availability, or a named room type? | Low unless named |
| Welcome drink or fruit | Is it halal-friendly and alcohol-free? | Small |
| Flower or towel decoration | Is it one night or every night? | Small |
| Candlelight dinner | Menu, setting, drinks, halal status, rain plan | Can be high |
| Breakfast in bed | One morning or daily, and the timing | Medium |
| Couple massage | Minutes, private room, modesty options | Can be high |
| Spa credit | Does it cover treatments you would book? | Depends |
| Late checkout | Which hour, and is it confirmed? | Medium |
| Photo session | Length, number of edited photos, who owns them | Depends |
| Airport transfer | Private or shared, both directions, late arrival | High |
Which extras are real value?
Transfers, a confirmed dinner, and a couple massage repay their cost for most couples, because you would buy them anyway. A named room type is also worth more than a possible upgrade.
Late checkout helps if your flight is in the evening. Ask for a fixed hour so there is no argument on the day.
Which extras mostly add to the price?
Decorations, a welcome gift and generic vouchers are pleasant but cheap for the resort to supply. They can be worth having, as long as you are not paying much for them. Our guide on extras that pad the price goes through them one by one.
Watch for vouchers that expire, cover a narrow menu, or need a minimum spend.
How do we confirm each item?
Send one email or message listing the extras you want. Ask the property to reply with each item by name, date, time and any limit. Keep that reply with your booking.
Our email template to confirm honeymoon perks gives wording you can copy. A request is not a confirmation, so wait for the reply.
What if the package is not right for us?
Room-only plus your own choices is a sound option. You pick a dinner you like, a spa you trust and a transfer that suits your arrival time. You lose the bundle price but gain control.
Use the package comparer to line up two options on the same basis. Our honeymoon package extras checklist is a one-page version of this decoder.
What should we do next?
- List every extra in the package you are considering.
- Price the same room without the package.
- Mark each extra as keep, ask or skip.
- Send the keep and ask items to the property, or to us, and wait for a written reply before you pay the balance.
