There is no single deposit amount for a honeymoon package. It depends on the flights, the hotel rate and the supplier’s terms. What you can decide is whether the figure is explained, written down and tied to clear refund dates.
This guide belongs in our trust and enquiries topic, about checking before you pay.
What sets the size of a deposit?
Three things push the figure up or down:
- Flights: once a ticket is issued, part of the fare may no longer be refundable.
- Hotel rate type: a non-refundable or discounted rate may need more upfront than a flexible one.
- Supplier terms: some suppliers need a fixed amount to hold your dates.
Ask the seller which of the three applies. The glossary entry on deposit gives a short definition.
How do we read a payment schedule?
A schedule should show every payment, its date and what it covers. The table is a layout to ask for.
| Payment | Due date | Amount | Refundable until |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit | At booking | To be stated | To be stated |
| Second payment, if any | To be stated | To be stated | To be stated |
| Balance | To be stated | To be stated | To be stated |
The last payment is the balance payment. Ask what happens if you pay late, and what happens if the supplier changes the price.
Which five terms do we write down?
Before you pay, hold these in writing:
- The deposit amount and what it covers.
- The dates of each later payment.
- Which part is refundable, and until when.
- What happens if the hotel, airline or operator changes the booking.
- The company name and account that receives your payment.
If any is missing, ask before you pay. Reading a cancellation policy helps with the wording.
What would worry us in a deposit request?
Compare what you are asked with the points below.
| Calm and normal | Worth a pause |
|---|---|
| Amount explained against flights and hotel | No reason given for the figure |
| Payment to a company account | Payment to a personal account |
| Receipt names the company and booking | Chat message only |
| Refund dates written down | Verbal refund promises |

Should we pay in full early?
Only when the benefit is clear. A larger early payment can reduce your flexibility if dates shift after the wedding.
Ask what you gain, put it in writing, and compare with the risk. A flexible rate can cost more but protect you.
What should we do next?
- Ask the seller for the full payment schedule in writing.
- Fill the five terms above and check nothing is blank.
- Pay only to the company account named on the quote, and ask for a receipt.
- Save the schedule, receipt and terms together on your phone.
