What to Tell Your Honeymoon Travel Agent

You want quotes that are easy to compare, and you are unsure what a provider needs to know.

HoneymoonQuest Editorial · Updated 2026-10-20

Send eight things in one message: dates, budget, mood, departure airport, stay style, food needs, must-haves and must-avoids. With those, quotes come back comparable. Without them, you get different answers to different questions.

The brief fits our occasions topic, because it is the first step for most couples. It also helps when you compare honeymoon packages.

What are the eight items?

  1. Travel window and number of nights
  2. Total budget for two, as a range or ceiling
  3. Mood: rest, food, adventure, culture or a mix
  4. Departure airport, such as Kuala Lumpur (KLIA or KLIA2), Penang or Kuching
  5. Stay style: resort, villa, boutique hotel or flexible
  6. Food needs: halal, vegetarian, allergies
  7. Must-haves, such as a private pool or short transfers
  8. Must-avoids, such as long ferry rides or crowded resorts

Which details change the price most?

Dates, number of nights and stay style move the price more than almost anything else. Peak dates cost more, and short stays can cost more per day. See our guide on what to send for an accurate quote.

Food needs and transfers can also shift the total, so state them early.

What does a good brief look like?

Copy this and fill it in.

“Hi, we are a couple planning a honeymoon. Dates: [window, nights]. Budget: [range] for two. Mood: [rest / food / adventure].

Departure: [airport]. Stay: [type]. Food: [halal / vegetarian / allergies].

Must-haves: [list]. Must-avoids: [list].

Please send options as a total for two, with what is included.”

You can also use the quote brief builder to generate it.

How do we compare the quotes?

Put them side by side and check the same lines: stay, flights, transfers, meals, taxes, activities and cancellation terms. Our guide on comparing quotes on the same basis shows how.

Ask the provider to list inclusions and exclusions in writing.

What else should we ask the agent?

Ask about licensing, payment schedules and what happens if something changes. Our list of questions to ask a honeymoon agent gives the full set.

What should we do next?

  1. Fill in the eight items together.
  2. Send the same brief to each provider.
  3. Compare the replies on one sheet.
  4. Send us your brief, and we will return options as a total for two and confirm the one you pick in writing.

Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?

Copy the brief into WhatsApp and fill in what you know. We will return options as a total for two and tell you what is still missing to make the quote firm.

Questions couples ask

Do we need to know our exact dates?

A rough window is enough to start, such as 'second week of March, six nights'. Exact dates help, but flexible dates let the provider find better options. Say which parts can move and which cannot.

Should we share our full budget?

Share a range or a ceiling for the total for two. A clear number helps the provider avoid options that do not fit. If you prefer, give a comfortable figure and a stretch figure.

What if we do not know what we want?

Describe the mood instead: rest, food, adventure or a mix. Add what you want to avoid. A good provider will turn that into two or three options and explain the differences.

Plan the trip you both want

Tell us your dates, budget and what matters to you both. We reply with options that fit, and the decision stays yours.
