A request is a wish you have told the resort about. A confirmed arrangement is a wish the resort has promised in writing, naming the item and the date. The gap between them is where couples can feel let down at the desk.
This guide belongs to our booking requests topic, where we turn wishes into written arrangements.
What is a request, and what is confirmed?
A request says what you hope for. It might be flowers, a quiet room or a late checkout.
A confirmed arrangement says what the resort will do. It names the item, the date and, ideally, the time. If you cannot point to a sentence in writing that says so, treat it as a request.
How do we decode the resort’s words?
Resort replies are friendly, and friendly is not the same as firm. Use the decoder to see where a reply sits.
| What the resort wrote | Where it sits | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| “Noted” | Request logged | Ask: is this confirmed or noted only? |
| “We will do our best” | Courtesy, not promised | Ask what the fallback is |
| “Subject to availability” | Wish, conditional | Ask how and when availability is decided |
| “Will advise closer to arrival” | Open | Set a date to ask again |
| “Confirmed” with item and date | Confirmed | Save it and show it at arrival |
What is the four-step ladder?
Think of each wish climbing a ladder. Your aim is to move it up before you fly.
- Wish: you have only told yourselves.
- Requested: you have written it to the resort.
- Noted: the resort has logged it.
- Confirmed: the resort has promised the item in writing.
Every step needs a message. Do not stop at step three.
What question moves a wish up the ladder?
Ask one plain question. Keep it kind.
Thank you for noting our request for [item]. Could you confirm whether this is arranged for [date], or whether it is subject to availability on arrival? If it is subject to availability, what would the alternative be?
This question gives the resort a polite way to say yes, and a polite way to say what it cannot promise.
Which items are harder to confirm?
Some items depend on the day’s occupancy. A room upgrade, early check-in and late checkout are in this group. Our guide on free room upgrades for honeymooners explains why.
Other items depend on setup. Flowers, cake and decor are easier to confirm, but still need a date and a time.
How do we keep proof?
Keep a short folder: the booking confirmation, the request email, the reply and a screenshot. Show it on arrival, politely.
Our email template to confirm honeymoon perks is built for this follow-up. For the first message, read how to word a honeymoon special request.
What should we do next?
- List each wish and mark it requested, noted or confirmed.
- Send the follow-up question for each one marked noted.
- Set a reminder a week before arrival.
- Send us the replies, and we will read them with you and give a total for two.
